ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) cream and ointment are prescribed for relief of inflamed, itchy rashes and other inflammatory skin conditions.
Most important fact about ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet)

When you use ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet), you inevitably absorb some of the medication through your skin and into the bloodstream. Too much absorption can lead to unwanted side effects elsewhere in the body. To keep this problem to a minimum, avoid using large amounts of ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) over large areas, and do not cover it with airtight dressings such as plastic wrap or adhesive bandages unless specifically told to do so by your doctor.
How should you use ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet)?

ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) is for use only on the skin. Be careful to keep it out of your eyes.

If you miss a dose...

Apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule.

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet).

* Side effects of ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) may include:
Burning, dryness, infected or worsening eczema, itchy spots, rash, skin irritation, stinging

Side effects occur more frequently with the use of airtight bandages. In children, the more likely side effects may include a burning sensation, hives, inflammation, rash, and red blotches on the face and body.
Why should ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) not be prescribed?

If you are sensitive to or have ever had an allergic reaction to fluticasone propionate or other steroid medications, you should not use ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet). Make sure your doctor is aware of any drug reactions you have experienced.
Special warnings about ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet)

Do not use ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) for any disorder other than the one for which it was prescribed.

Do not use ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) cream on the face, underarms, or groin areas unless your doctor tells you to do so. Do not apply ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) if you have an infection in the affected skin area. Tell your doctor if you have had any other problems in that area.

The treated skin area should not be bandaged, covered, or wrapped unless you have been directed to do so by your doctor.

Do not apply ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) cream to the diaper area because covering a treated area with waterproof diapers or plastic pants can increase unwanted absorption of ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet).

Do not use ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) to treat rosacea or skin inflammation near the mouth. Also avoid using ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) on thin, weakened skin that has lost its elasticity.

If an irritation or allergic reaction develops while using ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet), notify your doctor.

The drug can interfere with the thyroid, pituitary, and adrenal glands, causing a problem called Cushing's syndrome (weight gain, reddening of the face and neck, growth of excess facial hair, high blood pressure, and mental disturbances), hyperglycemia (excess glucose in the blood), and glucosuria (urinary excretion of glucose). Your doctor should monitor your condition and periodically check your glandular function if you are applying a large dose of any potent steroid preparation to a large area of your skin.

Steroid medications such as ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) are more likely to cause side effects in children. Problems can include Cushing's syndrome and other adrenal problems, stunted growth, and high pressure inside the head. This excess pressure can lead to bulges in the skull, headaches, and eventually loss of vision.
Possible food and drug interactions when taking ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet)

No interactions with food or other drugs have been reported.
Special information if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

The effects of ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) during pregnancy have not been adequately studied. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. It is not known whether ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) appears in breast milk. If ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding until your treatment is finished.
Recommended dosage for ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet)

ADULTS
Overdosage

With extensive or long-term use of ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet), hormone absorbed into the bloodstream may cause a group of symptoms called Cushing's syndrome.

* Symptoms of Cushing's syndrome may include:
Acne, depression, excessive hair growth, high blood pressure, humped upper back, insomnia, moonfaced appearance, obese trunk, paranoia, stretch marks, wasted limbs, stunted growth (in children), susceptibility to bruising, fractures, and infections

Cushing's syndrome may also trigger diabetes mellitus.

If it is left uncorrected, Cushing's syndrome may become serious. If you suspect your long-term use of ZOFLUT (Fluticasonet) has led to this problem, seek medical attention immediately.
