Product Description ROXID (Roxithromycin) Roxithromycin is an oral macrolide antibiotic with broad spectrum coverage against both gram +ve, gram -ve and atypical pathogen causing RTI. Serratiopeptidase is a proteolytic enzyme derived from serrati SPP. Serratiopeptidase is a proven proteolytic enzyme that exerts a direct mucolytic action breaks the mucus and promotes expectoration and helps in antibiotic penetration.
Mechanism of Action Roxithromycin acts by binding to 50's ribosomal sub unit of bacteria and inhibit the protein synthesis. Serratiopeptidase binds to alpha-2 macroglobulin in the blood in the ratio of 1:1 which helps to mask its antigenicity but retain its enzymatic activity by hydrolysing bradykinin, histamine, and serotonin. Serratiopeptidase blocks plasmin inhibition thus helping the fibrinolytic activity of plasmin helps clearance of exudate, reduces swelling and improves micro circulation.
Pharmaco Kinetics Roxithromycin is well absorbed with peak serum concentration of about 8-10mcg/ml within 1-2 hrs, duration of action ranges from 8-12hrs.The Bio-availability of Roxithromycin improves if it is taken in empty stomach.
Indications In URTI like sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, Uro genital infection, skin and soft tissue infection.

Adverse Effects ROXID (Roxithromycin) Anaphylactic reactions, others nausea, abdominal pain, Anosexia.
Product Rationale Most often URTI the problem is infection, inflammation, and retained secretion. In SSTI and urogenital infection, problem is infection, inflammation, penetration of antibiotic. Roxithromycin can take care of infection only. Serratiopeptidase is an anti inflammatory, proteolytic and anti fibrinolytic enzyme helps in reducing inflammation, retained secretion and penetration of antibiotic. So by combining these two drugs it will provide synergistic effect and will help in faster and complete cure than plain Roxithromycin.
Special Precautions Liver cirrhosis, pregnancy, severe hepatic and renal impairments.
